Inconsequential Behavior

Examples:

• Student tapping her pencil
• Student responds to a question without raising his hand

Consequential Behavior

• Roughly 6% of inappropriate student behavior
• Damaging to the learning environment
• Respond non-coercively

Examples:

• Student says something demeaning to another student
• Student continues to talk to her neighbor while other students are reading
• Persistent and disruptive
• Physically or verbally abusive
