Each location on this map is a testament to our commitment to improving education. It highlights all the communities and schools we’re reaching with our high-quality substitute teacher training, helping to build a stronger and more reliable network of educators nationwide.
What Your Training Package Includes
We have substitute training packages to fit your learning style and help you advance your career.
Our History
Founded in 1995, the Substitute Teaching Institute at Utah State University (STI/USU) became the national leader in providing training and resources to improve substitute teaching, even receiving federal recognition. In 2008, STI/USU was dissolved, and its mission, materials, and services were officially transferred to STEDI.org, which continues the work of improving substitute teaching nationwide.
Our Mission
STEDI.org is revolutionizing the role of substitute teachers into an opportunity of educational excellence by assisting school districts in recruiting, training, and retaining quality substitute teachers.
What We Do
Founded as the Substitute Teaching Institute at Utah State University in 1995, STEDI.org provides research-based training materials and services designed to improve student achievement when students are taught by a substitute teacher and to assist those who manage substitute teachers. STEDI.org has forged ahead implementing research-based practices to improve recruiting, training, and retention efforts in school districts
How We Do It
STEDI.org trains substitute teachers primarily through its comprehensive 8-hour online SubSkills™ Training Course. This program focuses on classroom management and professional techniques, with trainees earning a SubDiploma upon successfully completing the course and passing the online assessment.
