This month, we are excited to feature Patricia Lutz, HR Advisor for Substitute Teachers at Ft. Bend ISD in Texas during our STEDI Edge spotlight. Patricia will be sharing how her district conducts Virtual Interviews—a topic requested due to overwhelming interest during one of our previous SMS meetings. Interviewing substitute teachers prior to placing them in the classroom is a fantastic best practice, and Patricia will share expert insights on how to implement it effectively!

We’ll also take a closer look at the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) overview—what it is and how it impacts your substitute teacher program. Additionally, we will highlight important community and crisis-support resources, including 211 and 988. Sharing these resources with your substitute teachers promotes wellness and connectedness, making this the perfect time to renew focus on employee well-being as we head into the holiday season.

Finally, we will review the SubManager Checklist for November and December so your program is fully prepared for the months ahead.
