An Extremely Simple Strategy

You know those annoying behaviors that are common in the classroom? As teachers, they can drive us crazy – if we let them. Teachers have to make thousands of little decisions every day, the hardest being deciding what to do with those annoying behaviors.

I want to make that decision a little easier for you.

If the behavior is just annoying and isn’t harming anyone else or the learning environment, just ignore it.

It’s that simple.

The behavior that the teacher spends the most time recognizing in the classroom is the behavior that is going to prevail. Since the greatest reward for student behavior is teacher attention if teachers ignore annoying behavior, those behaviors will diminish.

This is such a simple, yet powerful strategy and I hope you find it helpful for you!
