Arriving early is necessary for a successful day as a substitute teacher. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early to assignments in order to allow sufficient time to prepare for the day. During this time you can ask the school secretary any necessary questions such as:
- Do I have any extra duties today such as lunch duty or playground duty?
- How do I report students who are absent?
- Is there a scheduled emergency drill today?
You will also have time to review the permanent teacher’s lesson plans and implement the starter activity.
Several of you likely arrive to substitute teaching assignments earlier than 20 minutes, thank you for your preparation and dedication!
