Being professional outside of the classroom is starting to become a bigger concern each and every school year. Permanent and substitute teachers are allowing relationships with students to become too casual. They are allowing their professionalism to slide.
It is recommended that you remain a professional substitute teachers all year round. Many of you have mentioned that you run into students at the grocery store or football games. When you sign on to be a teacher, you become a leader in the community. Because of this, you need to hold yourself to a higher standard of professionalism. This might mean different things to different people. Some of you might need to be more professional when the person at the checkout stand messes up on your grocery bill. Or for others it mean maintaining professionalism while interacting online.
