Reflecting at the End of the School Year

As the end of the school year is approaching, one practice that I find useful is taking time to reflect. Following are some questions that might be helpful to begin your reflection process.

  1. Was I an effective substitute teacher?
  2. What did I do to make me effective?
  3. What things do I need to improve in my teaching?
  4. What am I going to do to make me a better teacher?
  5. What resources are available to me?
  6. Did I enjoy being a substitute teacher?
  7. What can I do to get even greater satisfaction from substitute teaching?

Asking myself these questions and answering them sincerely helped me recognize what I needed to do to become a better teacher.

It is also fun to take time to write down some of the enjoyable experiences from the last school year – if you are blogging about your experiences substitute teaching, be sure to let me know, I love to follow blogs!
